Ngalaah Chuphi

Independent IC Member: Food Funds

Ngalaah has over 30 years of experience in private equity, infrastructure investing, management consulting and engineering. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University in Kingston, Canada and an MBA in Finance from Pepperdine University in the USA.

Ngalaah joined British International Investment’s as an external Investment Committee member in 2022, with a focus on direct equity transactions.

His 22 year career in private equity at Ethos made him a leader in deal sourcing, execution, value creation and exit across a variety of investments in multiple geographies in sub-Saharan Africa. Ngalaah was the lead partner on Ethos’s efforts to invest outside South Africa and co-lead in raising Ethos Fund V (US $750 million) and the lead in raising Ethos Fund VI (US $800 million).

Prior to Ethos, he had exposure to Project Finance for the International Finance Corporation focussing on infrastructure deals in South America and as a management consultant in the area of strategy development and implementation in SSA and in Europe. Earlier in his career, Ngalaah worked as an electrical engineer for large global technology companies.
