Valentine is the Chairman of MTN (Zambia), Phatisa Group and SABMiller (Zambia). He also sits on a number of boards of listed companies in the United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa as well as being a main board member of CDC Group plc. Valentine is a chartered accountant and has worked with KPMG Peat Marwick, United Kingdom and Meridien Financial Services, Zambia and the Zambia Privatisation Agency where, as CEO, he oversaw the disposal and privatisation of around 240 businesses. He was previously Chairman of the Zambia Venture Capital Fund, was on the board of Commonwealth Africa Investments (Comafin) and was Central African Director for CDC Capital Partners where he initiated and executed a number of private equity transactions. As an entrepreneur, he has made a number of private equity investments in the Zambian economy and the region.

Qualified as a chartered accountant and engineer, Duncan’s résumé begins at Unilever, where he spent 18 years and rose to the position of Managing Director of Unilever, Zambia. He then joined CDC Capital Partners as Business Director - Africa, responsible for the company’s businesses across the continent. His portfolio comprised more than 10 companies with 28 000 employees in eight countries. Duncan was also the Deputy CEO of AFGRI Products, the largest division of a JSE-quoted agri services company. He has completed in excess of 40 ‘change of control’ transactions, and has lived and worked in South Africa, Zambia, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Ghana.

Stuart has 15 years of private equity experience in Africa with CDC Capital Partners, Aureos Capital and Phatisa Group. Stuart has a strong track record in private equity across industries as diverse as agri business, manufacturing, services and telecommunications, as well as across the key disciplines of sourcing, negotiating, structuring, managing and exiting private equity investments. Stuart is the co-founder of Phatisa Group, which was lead adviser to the Pan African Infrastructure Development Fund (PAIDF) and successfully first closed at US$ 625 million with purely African capital. Prior to founding Phatisa, Stuart was the managing partner of the US$ 50 million Aureos Southern Africa Fund in Johannesburg, South Africa. Before joining Aureos Capital, Stuart was the General Manager of Takura Ventures in Zimbabwe where he had overall responsibility for the Fund’s success.

Craig has considerable expertise, and two decades of experience, in treasury, risk and capital management predominately in the banking and financial services sector. After his articles and obtaining his Chartered Accountant designation he spent five years in London with, among others, the Financial Services Authority, Barclays Capital and UBS. On his return to South Africa he joined Investec Group initially in the risk area of private bank and then specialised projects in central finance before spending four years in the treasury division of Investec Capital Markets. He then co-founded Integer to develop a bank replication model focusing on mortgage lending and mobile electronic transacting. After the trade sale of Integer he joined Super Group to focus on capital and risk management leading to a successful rights issue of the group. After a period of consulting on treasury and risk for clients in Africa he joined Phatisa in 2010.

Sean’s career spans over 15 years in the financial services industry, which includes seven years with Nedbank Private Equity (South Africa), as Senior Transactor and close to three years with Chester Finance Group as joint CEO, Chester Finance in South Africa. He has executed over 25 private equity deals in South Africa, Southern Africa and Australia, valued in excess of US$ 500 million. Prior to this, he was with the international law offices of Huang & Partners (Taiwan) and PwC Corporate Finance (South Africa). Sean holds a BA in Psychology, an LLB from the University of Cape Town and an MBA from Wits Business School, Johannesburg.

Qualified as a chartered accountant (ICAEW) in 1985, Paul spent three years with Deloitte in Central London. His career has seen him being Head of Internal Audit at Lonrho East Africa (Nairobi), Finance Director at The British Printing Company Limited, Country Finance Director at Lonrho Africa Plc (Malawi), and Corporate Development Director: Africa with the James Finlay Group (Africa). He has also been involved in interim management and consultation work. With extensive international experience in Africa and a wide range of strengths, from finance, supply chain management and project management to restructuring, HR and change management, Paul currently heads up Phatisa East Africa.

Anders Einarsson's career covers 11 years of corporate finance and investment activities in emerging markets, participating in the structuring and execution of 13 investments, valued in excess of US$ 380 million. He served on various Boards; Milvik Ghana Limited (Kinnevik and Millicom), Simba Investments (Mauritius), and Eva Capital Limited (South Africa), including the West Africa SME Growth Fund Investment Committee and the Ludin Foundation Investment Advisory Committee, to name but a few. More recently he spent close to three years in Nigeria, managing a portfolio of investments to the value of US$ 130 million, subsequently assuming the role of Group CFO in IHS Nigeria Plc. Prior to this Anders held the position of Investment Manager for Africa, Kinnevik Group and Simba Investments, focusing on food and agri related investments. He has also gained extensive experience in Russia and the Baltics, where he was Group CFO, Kontakt East Holding (Plc) and held various positions in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions with General Electric. Anders joined Phatisa in January 2012 as Deal Partner.

| Charles, an Ivorian national, is an international senior executive who has spent close to 20 years working in the private sector for multi-national companies, such as Coke, Celtel and TVAfrica. He started his career in sales and marketing before moving to business development, rising to senior management positions and ultimately Managing Director driving value creation for shareholders. His career has been focused on operational management where he developed expertise in execution - translating strategies into actions. Charles’ core experience is in fast moving consumer goods (FMCG), media and telecoms. His successful career changes, from one industry to another, demonstrates his ability to adapt to new business and to quickly understand the key drivers to create value. He has operated throughout Africa, with a focus on Francophone Africa and has gained a profound understanding of the business environment in various countries south of the Sahara. This, combined with his early and succinct exposure to the business world in Asia and America, has given Charles excellent multi-cultural and interpersonal skills. He is bilingual in French and English, proficient in Spanish and has a basic knowledge of Arabic. |

Yannick has experience and growing expertise in corporate finance and private equity transactions through a year’s training with Cauris Finance Afrique where he was the assistant to the Managing Partner. He is a Cameroonian national, (French speaking) with an understanding of West Africa. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) from the University of Johannesburg, as well as a Masters of Commerce (Financial Economics) from the latter where he is completing a Master of Commerce in Business Management.

THE AGRI TEAM Colin is an agricultural graduate with an MBA. He started his career in farm management (arable and livestock) in the UK and Africa but has spent most of the last two decades working in agri business development in Africa, in which he has become a specialist. He worked with CDC Capital Partners, where he was involved in agricultural businesses in the Far East (palm oil), Caribbean (citrus) and Africa (floriculture). Colin previously worked with Booker Tate in South Africa (sugar) and also Technoserve in Ghana, IFC in Tanzania, and UNIDO in Ethiopia, among others.

THE PROPERTY TEAM Jan has 18 years of corporate experience at several leading South African and international businesses. For the past eight years he has principally involved himself on Africa business, where he has worked as a senior executive in property finance, corporate finance and corporate strategy. For the past three years he has led a team of property professionals that has originated and executed deals in many key sub-Saharan property sectors and geographies. The deal value of transactions closed to date is in excess of US$ 250 million. Jan is an experienced financier with passions for both development issues as well as providing customised real estate solutions for both end-users and funders. His key areas of expertise are residential and retail mall development, where he has executed several landmark transactions across the continent. In his time with Standard Bank he has undertaken over 60 trips across the continent and possesses a valuable network of local professionals and advisers in many countries. As an experienced property transactor and strategist he is well placed to offer the Fund a set of insights, capabilities and networks that are in critically short supply on the continent. Prior to his time with Standard Bank he worked with Anglo American and Investec Bank.

Eton embarked on a career in asset backed and real estate finance at NBS Bank, which through takeover became BoE Corporate Bank. Eton then joined Cape of Good Hope Bank (part of the Nedcor Group), a niche bank focussed on the real estate sector, and while in their employ, was transferred to Johannesburg. Through corporate action cape of Good Hope bank was dissolved, and Eton joined the structured finance team of Brait, specialising in advising and debt raising for real estate backed structured finance deals. Eton focused on the real estate sector and set about gaining additional experience in debt origination and deal structuring for real estate deals. His in-depth and broad range of experience extends to, inter alia, assessing the viability and performance of property investments and structuring property transactions including optimal gearing levels, capital raising, partner negotiations and private equity fund management in a real estate environment. Eton founded Sasfin Property Private Equity in 2006 and with the goal of providing mezzanine and equity finance to property investors and developers.
